Optoma Projectors

Projectors are used for giving presentations in business and educational settings, and they also have a place in home theaters. Optoma is a multinational audio-and-visual-solutions supplier that provides a wide number of projectors, ranging from their ultra-mobile models to ones that weigh more than 50 pounds and can project 300-inch screens. Optoma projectors vary in size, throw distance, video resolution, and more, so it is important to know how much space you have available and the type of projector you need before selecting an Optoma product.

What light source does Optoma use for their projectors?
  • Standard Lamp: Some Optoma models utilize standard bulbs that offer a lifetime of 3,000 to 5,000 hours and are able to produce a bright picture.
  • Laser: Optoma uses laser technology for some of their projectors. These projectors are energy efficient and able to produce a wide range of vibrant colors.
  • LED: LED bulbs boast a lifetime of over 20,000 hours and can produce a bright picture with only a small bulb, making them especially useful in Optoma's small, portable projectors.
What does the number of lumens mean for a projector?

All Optoma products measure brightness in lumens, and the higher the lumen rating, the brighter a projector's picture. Projectors may have two different lumen ratings, one for white brightness and one for color brightness. Optoma offers products with brightness ratings that range from 1,000 lumens to well above 5,000 lumens.

Does Optoma offer projectors with 4k resolution?

Yes. Optoma video projector resolution is measured by pixel density. The higher the density, the crisper the picture will be. 1,080p models require a pixel count of 1,920 by 1,080, and 720p models require 1,280 by 720. Above this, some models offer 4k video picture. 4k video projectors provide an ultra-HD picture of 3,840 by 2,160. That means that 4k displays contain 8.3 million pixels, compared to the 2.1 million of a 1,080p projector.

Are projectors used in a home theater?

Optoma designs projectors specifically for use in home theaters. These projectors produce high-quality images with high contrast and vibrant colors. You can use them for projecting things like movies, TV shows, sports matches, and video games.

What does a projector's throw distance mean?

The throw distance tells you how far away the projector must be from the screen to produce a full-sized image. Long-throw models are generally placed in the center or rear of the room. Some Optoma models utilize special technology that allows for an ultra-short throw distance. These units are able to sit just a few feet away from the screen while still projecting a full-sized picture.
