LGA775 is an Intel computer processor socket. LGA is an acronym for land grid array. The biggest difference between the LGA 775 and earlier processors is the fact that it has no socket holes. The socket 775 connects to the CPU via pins which make contact with pins at the bottom of the processor. There is also an LGA 771 socket which is meant for servers and workstations using Xenon chips. Although the LGA 775 socket is still widely used, it was superseded by the LGA1156 and LGA1366 sockets.
