Choosing the CD Player for Your Home

The compact disc or CD first released in the 1980's and offered a new and exciting way to listen to your favorite music at home. Today's CD players have a lot more features including Bluetooth connectivity and MP3 compatibility, so finding the right one for home or personal use can be a challenge. JVC has been producing CD players for as long as the technology has been around, and they're a popular choice for this type of electronics.

What Types of JVC CD Players Are There?

The very first JVC CD player was released over 30 years ago, and the technology has advanced since then to include a range of stereo systems that are capable of playing CDs.

  • CD Player: A standalone CD player that works with CD-Rs, CD-RW and standard compact discs.
  • Multimedia player: Capable of playing more than just CDs, these stereos include USB, cassette, Bluetooth, radio, and more.
  • Portable CD player: These are smaller systems that you can use outside of the home, including the smaller personal sound system with headphones or a larger boombox that is battery operated.

What Features Can You Find on a CD Player?

Compared to earlier models of CD players, you can find so many that are full of unique features. Here are just a few features you can find on CD players and how they benefit the music listening experience.

  • Compatibility: In addition to being able to play CD, some have Bluetooth connections that play music from your smartphone, others work with older cassette tapes, and some have USB connectivity or FM/AM radio.
  • Remote control: A remote control is standard with most models but might also have the option to control through your phone through a Bluetooth connection.
  • Speakers: The quality of speakers varies for each model, and amplifiers project the audio of the stereo.
  • Display: Various settings and data can show on the CD player including track title, artist name, and stereo mode.

What Considerations Should I Make Before Choosing a Home CD Player?

You know the types and the features you can get, but there's still more to think about before you make your decision.

  • Size: A full audio system might take up a lot of space, and generally these might integrate into a larger entertainment system. A smaller unit is easier to move and generally easier to afford.
  • Space: Will this require additional shelving? Does it pack away easily? All of these would play an enormous role in what you choose.
